The restoration of a neglected cottage was a true labour of love for Gayle; UK

From the moment Gayle walked through what she calls 'the Hobbit door' in the 17th-century Northamptonshire cottage she and husband Paul came to view two years ago, she was sold. The property's character, history and permanence were exactly what she had always dreamed of. Nowadays, a calm, muted colour scheme prevails, while Gayle's love of texture and natural materials gives the overall palette interest and depth.
